Don't Touch My Stapler !

They wanted a unique, highly visible stapler for Milton in the movie Office Space. At the time, Swingline did not make a red stapler. The special effects department used automotive candy apple red to make one. Shortly after the movie came out, Swingline responded to the HUGH demand and introduced the current style of 747 in red. They said they had never made a 747 in red. I thought that was funny, since I have one of the old style 747s in the same color of red from about 1968! Specification: ALL staplers SHALL BE Swingline! (Those Boston ones just don't work.)
Big old reliable red stapler!

I found this Swingline "lipstick red" stapler at a thrift store many years ago. I don't know how old it is. It staples smoothly and does what it's supposed to do, look pretty sitting on my bookshelf. To anyone having difficulty getting theirs to work I suggest only using the Swingline brand standard staples in it. The fact it's red reminds me of Milton, but this is not the same one from the movie.

I am a teacher and I had a beige 747 with broken part that let top fall down. I called to get a part and had the entire stapler replaced at no charge. Unfortunately during TIKTOK craze to steal something, a student took my replacement stapler. Despite reward posters etc, I never got it back. Still TIKKed to this day!! But thanks to company for their generosity several years ago. I recommend all Swingline products!!!
I have an older one, and it is wonderful.

I avoided this particular stapler for a while since it never worked properly. It being an office stapler, I paid no heed and used one of the plastic models, until I saw the pin in the main hinge was popping out on one side, so it was pivoting only on that side, thus ruining the alignment and general operation. Once I got that pin in through, its operation has been near-flawless. I dunno what that other person is talking about; they probably got a defective unit.
I will probably never buy this item again.

Have used it very little. It jams often, and is almost impossible to unjam. It might make a good paperweight in an emergency. Also annoying is the icons overlaid right where typing begins, adding insult to injury.
